BLACK DEUTSCHLAND

The documentary BLACK DEUTSCHLAND is an intimate study about the feelings and the thoughts of a not so small minority - black Germans and black people in Germany.

The director Oliver Hardt portrays five individuals engaged in the cultural sector.

They explain in an emotional, nevertheless reflective and humorous way, how it feels to live as a non-white in a society defined as “white”.

The portrayed talk in open and friendly conversations about self-images and prejudices, about a deep-rooted self-esteem, but also about their fears and uncertainties.

Black Deutschland was awarded Silver at the World Media Festival in Hamburg in 2006 and was nominated for the Hessen Film Award.
